Constitutional Court
The Constitutional Court has jurisdiction on the constitutionality of legislation and decides on electoral
disputes or approval of international agreement. Cases are only accepted by the court when they are referred by the president, two thirds of the legislature or election related cases brought by the candidates .
The Court consists of 9 judges, of which 4 are appointed by the president and 5 by the National Assembly, for a life time period.

Supreme Courts (Highest Instance)
The Court of Cassation reviews the decisions of the Court of Appeal and the First instance Courts
on the basis of an appeal, with the grounds menitioned in this appeal. According to Article 92 of
the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia the Court of Cassation is the highest judiciary body.
The Court consists of the Chairman of the Court, civil and criminal chambers. Each chamber consists of a chairman and five judges.

Appellate Courts
The two courts of Appeal are the appellate courts for the courts of first instance,
in which a case can be reconsidered in it's full volume. The Civil Court consists of the Chairman and nine judges, the criminal court has a chairman and fifteen judges.

First Instance Courts
The Courts of first instance have jurisdiction on all civil, criminal and administrative cases.
The courts consist of 1 judge. There are 10 District Courts of first instance in Armenia and 7 community courts in the capital city Yerevan. From the 1st of januari 2008 some criminal and civil specialized Courts ar created.
