Trubunal Constitutional
The Constitutional court is the guardian of the Constitution. The Court interprets and monitors compliance with the constitution of laws and processes in the Ecuador territory.
The Court is located in Quito and consists of 11 judges, serving a 2 year period. The judges are appointed by the congress of which 8 of them are selected from a list submitted by the president, the Supreme court , mayors, labor unions and provincial perfects

The Supreme Court is the highest judicial instance in Ecuador and trials on appeals from the lower courts. The court consists of 16 judges,
appointed by the Congress.
The Court has the power to intitiate and reform law (in compliance with the Constitution). The same judicial power is given to the Supreme Tax Court and the Supreme Administrative Court the courts

The Provincial courts trial on criminal and the more serious civil cases. They have original jurisdiction in civil matters where the amount involved exceeds 8000 sucres.

The Cantonal courts decide in civil cases where the amount involved is between 200 and 8,000 sucres and are second instance courts for verdicts from the parish courts.

Minor Courts Justices of the Peace
The Parish (parroquia) judges try minor civil matters and misedemeanors. Verdicts from the parish courts are subject to review by the cantonal courts.

The Supreme Administrative Court primarily handles all cases arising from public administrative disputes.
Like the Supreme Court and the Supreme Tax Court, the Court has the power to initiate law.
